Can you Insert Ads into Your WordPress Post?

The simple answer to this question is yes, but there’s an easy way to do this and a not so easy way. The easy way involves using the right WordPress plugin.

If you’re looking for an easy way to insert Google AdSense, Amazon Product Banners or any other type of advertising within the content of your WordPress posts, we are here to help. Here’s a quick WordPress tutorial on inserting ads into your WordPress post.

Which Plugin is Right for the Job?

Using a plugin to insert ads into your WordPress content is far easier than trying to adjust the code. For beginners, this is the best way to go.

The two plugins we recommend for this task are Ad Inserter and Wp-Insert. These two plugins both have high ratings and will do the trick. Another plugin you may want to try is called Insert Post Ads. However, this plugin is very new and has yet to be reviewed.

Using Ad Inserter for Your Advertising Needs

Ad Inserter will allow you to work with AdSense or contextual Amazon ads. You can use other types of ads, as well, as long as they are HTML, JavaScript or PHP format. With this plugin you can display your ads:

  • Before or after the content
  • Before a selected paragraph
  • Before the title
  • Before or after an excerpt
  • With a widget
  • With a short code
  • With the PHP function

The plugin says it only works with up to version 3.8.3 (at the time of writing this post), but the author has kept this plugin updated quite well. It’s safe to assume an update will roll out shortly allowing this plugin to work with the latest version of WordPress. We actually installed it with version 3.9.1 of WordPress and it worked just fine.

Along with being able to place your ads in specific area of the content, you can also use the alignment features to create the right type of ads for your needs. This feature allows you to:

  • Align Right, Left, Center or None
  • Wrap the content
  • Float Left or Right

Once you download and install the plugin, you will find it located in your WordPress Dashboard. It will show up under settings >> Ad Inserter.

Make sure you reference the FAQ section of the plugin for more information on how to use it properly. Your will be able to add up to 16 code blocks to your WordPress website with Ad Inserter.

Inserting Ads in WordPress with Wp-Insert

Another option for inserting ads into a WordPress post is called Wp-Insert. This plugin will allow you to insert ads in multiple parts of the content including above, below, the middle, left and right. You can use short codes to inserts your ads and this plugin allows you to use Geo Targeting, as well.

Just as Ad Inserter doesn’t show that it works with the most current version of WordPress (at the time of writing), neither does Wp-Insert. However, we tested this plugin with version 3.9.1 and it works just fine. The author keeps the plugin updated and a new update should roll out soon to ensure compatibility with the latest version of WordPress.

Once you install and activate Wp-Insert, you will find a new tap below the “Settings” tab in your WordPress dashboard called, “Wp Insert.”

Within this menu, you can manage up to 20 different ads for both widgets and tags. You can also manage your in-post ads and set up the necessary legal pages and tracking codes. Under the FAQ section from the download page for this plugin, you will find a tutorial and support website. This is your go-to resource for learning how to use this specific plugin properly.

Inserting ads into the content of your WordPress posts and pages doesn’t have to be a difficult task. Whether you choose the Ad Inserter plugin or the Wp-Insert plugin, you will be able to insert ads into your WordPress post. This makes it very easy to monetize your content with Google AdSense, Amazon, Commission Junction, Clickbank or any other affiliate program.
