6 Tips for a Better Business Website

Your website is the main tool you use to reach your customers online. Just having a website isn’t enough to drive traffic and draw visitors into your sales funnel–it has to be a well designed, informative, and functional website that offers good content to do that. Getting there doesn’t have to be complex.

If you’re looking for ways to improve your website for visitors, check out these 6 tips for a better website.

6 tips for a better business website

1) Put a CTA on every page

Ybetter business websiteour website is a major part of your sales funnel, and there’s one thing we know about sales: Sometimes you have to ask in order to receive. A strong call to action (CTA) is a great way to come right out and ask visitors to try or do something. “Sign up now” and “Start my 30 day free trial” are examples of CTAs. What CTAs are you using on your website?

Customers rarely sell to themselves, so make sure there’s a visible call to action on every page of your website. That way, if a customer is on the fence about using your services or product, your CTA could be the push they need to convert.

2) Have your contact info on every page

How can a customer get in touch with you if they have questions, are experiencing problems, or are generally curious about your company? Visitors get frustrated when they have to hunt for the information they need on your site.

It’s wise to have your contact info easily visible on every page of your website so your customers feel that you’re easy to reach.

3) Use big, professional images

Looking at professional websites in contrast to amateur websites, one thing usually stands out: Amateurs rely mostly on text and small images, while professionals know the value of a really good, bold, well-placed image.

Small images look dated. Put large, quality photos on your website to improve the design.

4) Optimize it for mobile users

better business websiteMore and more people are relying on mobile devices to use the internet. In 2015, the number of people using the internet on a mobile device was 52.7%. Projections show that number will jump to more than 63.4% by 2017.

If your website isn’t optimized for users on mobile devices, your traffic is likely already plummeting and it will continue to do so until you make the site responsive and accessible for users on smartphones and tablets.

5) Down with pop ups

Pop ups of the 90s were one thing (Oh, the humanity), but even today’s low-key pop ups can be irritating to visitors on your website. Even if it’s for a noble purpose, like getting signups for your email subscriber list, subjecting visitors to a new window of promotional information they didn’t request can be enough to cause them to leave your site.

It’s best to avoid pop ups and instead make your CTAs easily visible on every page.

6) Personalize your About Us

Your About Ubetter business websites section should showcase why your company, brand, and/or team is unique. Lots of photos help tell the story and connect your visitors to what your business is about and who’s behind the scenes.

Including quotes from employees, short videos, and pictures from company meetings and outings is a good way to personalize your About Us page. Consider adding descriptions of the company culture and mission. This will enforce your values as well as show your visitors that your business is made up of real people and a core purpose.
