Before you shut off the comments on your blog, you may want to consider the fact that once you do this, you won’t be able to create any type of discussion on your WordPress blog. Allowing comments can help with the SEO of your WordPress site and more. However, not all websites needs comments.
How to Turn off All Comments in WordPress
If you want to turn off all the comments on your WordPress blog, you can do this from the settings menu. Log into your WordPress dashboard and go to Settings >> Discussion. From here, you will want to uncheck the box called, “Allow people to post comments on new articles.”
This will turn off all comments, but you can still override this setting on individual pages and posts. If you only plan to allow comments on a handful of posts and pages, this is the best way to go. It will also make it easier if you don’t want any comments posted on your site at all.
How to Turn off Comments on Individual Pages and Posts in WordPress
When you want adjust the comment settings for individual posts and pages, you will need to allow the “Discussion” section within the pages and/or posts. Start by going to the specific post you want to adjust and click on the “Screen Options” tab in the top left corner of the post edit screen.
Click this tab and you will see a number of different check boxes. Make sure the “Discussion” box is checked. This will turn on the settings for comments within each page or post.
You will now be able to make adjustments for each post or page from the section found below the post edit section.
Just check the box labeled “Allow Comments” to turn the comments on for each page or post.
Now you can change the comment settings for your entire WordPress website or you can make adjustments for each individual post or page.
