This plugin helps you keep out hackers, but it can lock you out if you enter the wrong password too many times. However, there is a way around this. The File Manager Method
One of the fastest and easiest ways to is to use your cPanel File Manager and delete the Limit Login Attempts plugin from your WordPress website. Once you log into your hosting cPanel, you will need to find the “Files” section. Then, click on “File Manager” and select the website you need to delete the plugin from.
Now, just look within the wp-content/plugins folder and you will find the limit-login-attempts folder. Delete this folder and go back to your WordPress website. You should be able to login and reinstall the plugin now.

It may seem like a plugin you should avoid if it could lock you out, but the Limit Login Attempts Plugin also comes with many benefits.
Hackers may try to get into your website by entering your password or stealing it. If this is the case and they are trying to guess your password, this plugin will limited them to just a few tries before locking them out of your website. This means they can no longer attempt to log in and you won’t have to worry about them.
All you need to do to use this plugin is install and activate it. Once activated, you can access the configurations from the Settings>>Limit Login Attempts section in your dashboard.
You can adjust the number of retries and how long it locks somebody out. You can also increase the amount of time they are locked out if they become locked out too many times.
Once you have the options set the way you prefer, you can click the “Change Options” button to save them. When somebody is locked out, it will show you and you can even use their IP to block them permanently from your site, if necessary.
