WordPress provides a ton of flexibility and there isn’t much you can’t do. There’s a plugin for just about anything and you can even use a plugin for drop caps.
What are Drop Caps?
Drop caps have been around for a very long time. A drop cap is basically the first letter of a paragraph or page, which is made much larger than the rest of the text.

This style is use in printed books, newspapers and magazines quite often. It can be used with blog posts to add a little more style. Here’s how you can use drop caps on your WordPress blog.
Using the Simple Drop Cap Plugin for WordPress
Before you do anything else, you will need to install and activate the Simple Drop Cap Plugin for WordPress. Once activated, the settings for the plugin are found in the WordPress dashboard by going to Settings>>Simple Drop Cap.

From this page you can choose between three modes: Normal, Float and Custom.

Both the Normal and the Float mode provide examples. Using the custom mode will require custom CSS code, which can be entered into the Custom CSS Style box.

Along with these options, you can choose the color of the drop cap.

This plugin even allows you to automate the process by making every first letter, for every page, post and custom post type a drop cap.

If you don’t decide to use this option, you will need to insert the drop cap shortcode, which is [dropcap] [/dropcap].
Once you have made your choices, you can click the “Save Changes” button and you’re all set. Now you can use drop caps on all posts and pages or on select posts and pages. This makes it easy to add a little style to your WordPress website and give your readers a little something extra.
