As you upload images, videos, music files and other media files, you create a media library in WordPress. Sometimes, you may need to download items from the library, which is pretty easy to do. However, downloading your entire media library can be tedious if you have to do it one item at a time. Here’s an easier way to download your full medial library in WordPress.
Using the downML Plugin for WordPress
You can try to figure out how to download your entire library with a FTP client, but this isn’t easy for beginners. The easiest way to download your entire media library is with the downML Plugin for WordPress. Once you install and activate this plugin, you will have a new menu option called “downML”.

Just click on this option and a compressed file will be created.

Simply click on the link for your .zip file and your download will start. Depending on the size of this file, your download could take a little while to complete.
Why do you Need Your Media Library?
This may seem like something you don’t need to do, but the downML plugin is quite handy for some. It can be used to back up your entire media library or just an easy way to keep all of your files in one place.
You can throw the .zip folder onto a USB drive, Google Drive or another drive off of your computer to save space and keep all your media files in one place. This can also be very helpful if you have clients you design websites for or work on sites for. Sending the images to your clients is very easy with this plugin.
If you want to download your entire media library, you can do it one item at a time, use a FTP client or simply use the downML plugin.
