Creating a menu in WordPress can be a bit time consuming. Once you have it created, duplicating the menu doesn’t have to be difficult.
WordPress has a built-in system to make it easy to create and add navigation menus to sidebar areas and other areas of your site. It’s quite efficient, but the built-in system won’t allow you to duplicate a menu quickly. It has to be manually done, but there’s a better way.
Why do you Need a Duplicate Menu?
Sometimes, you may be testing things out or working with a new theme. You may not want to adjust current menus, but you can easily duplicate one until you know which direction you will go with the site changes.
You can also use duplicate menus if you want to show different menus to different users with conditional tags.
Using the Duplicate Menu Plugin
With the Duplicate Menu plugin for WordPress, you can easily duplicate any WordPress menu. Start by installing and activating the plugin. Then, you can access it by going to Appearance>>Duplicate Menu.
From this page, you can use the dropdown to choose the menu you would like to duplicate.
You will need to choose a new name for the duplicated menu and click the “Duplicate Menu” button. Once you do this, you will see a message that says, “Menu Duplicated. View.” You can click this message to view the menu.
From this page, you will be able to make changes to the new menu.
