The directory index manager in cpanel can be used to keep prying eyes out of your web content. By default folders that contain files will display a list of all of the files in them if an index page doesn’t exist in that folder. This can be a problem for important folders like “images” that may list all of your images. Using this tool allows you to enable indexes so it displays the list or you can block access so user’s see an error message if they try to access the folder directly.
