Can you Add Buttons to a WordPress Website Without Using Shortcodes?

Since many of the WordPress and blogging beginners don’t know much about CSS, HTML and other coding languages, plugins make customizing a website much easier. Most of the plugins use shortcodes to make it easy to add buttons to your WordPress website. This is a great way to go, but there’s an easier way.

With the release of WordPress 3.9, a new plugin was created and added to the directory. It’s called “Forget About Shortcode Buttons” and you will need to update your WordPress website to 3.9 or higher to use this plugin. Download the plugin here, Forget About Shortcode Buttons download.

This plugin provides a visual way to add buttons without using shortcodes or any coding at all. Once you have installed and activated the plugin for your WordPress site, you will be able to access the buttons from the post edit screen. The buttons you can add will be located here:

Once you’ve clicked this icon, you will get a popup that looks like this:

You can customize your button from here by adding the text you want to use, the URL you want users to land on when they click the button, the color of the button, the color of the text, the size and the type. The best way to learn what this plugin can do for you is just to play around and create a few buttons. Remember, if you don’t’ publish the post, it won’t go live, so you can play around a little without worrying about your visitors seeing your post.

Along with the basic options found in the “properties” tab of the plugin, you can use the “icon” tab to add even more customization.

Here you will find all types of icons you can add to your new button. Use the dropdown menu to search different categories of icons and once you find one you like, just click the icon to add it. The icon will show up and look like this:

Once you’ve completely customized your button, just click the “insert” button and it will be inserted into your post. Now you can use buttons for all types of reasons. They work in both posts and pages with this plugin.
